Flame thrower distributor problems

Problem: Last week car 3 times cutout, Ist 2 occasions, instantley restarted, 3rd - dead. Recovery guy confirmed very week or no spark and said it's either coil or igniter unit. WebMay 7, 2009 · Emerald Isle, N.C. On my 20'er I have a Pertronix Ignitor ignition and a Flamethrower coil. The coil that Pertronix recommends with this ignition. The coils keep burning up. Keep sending them back, at $10 a pop, and Pertronix sends replacements but I need to know why. The "tech" is like talking to the cashier at the convience store.

We think you need to replace the original point distributor with an electronic unit.
